Your teacher seems very fastidious in puntuation. To know whether your teacher is right or not, you should search for detailed instructions on hyphenation rules available on the Net.
Here's what I have found so far:
Over all, in most cases, hyphens linking prefixes to their roots are not mandatory, as long as their absence does not result in ambiguity and confussion (for example: recreation - re-creation, old car dealer - old-car dealer) and the proper meaning of the words are conveyed. This is because the underlying guideline is to omit unnecessary hyphens as much as posible. However, if you are still not sure if the a word should be hyphenated or not, do not hesitate to look it up in realible dictionaries.
Oxford learners dictionary provides me with some words similar to yours: overexposure, overspending, neither of which are hyphenated. Your punctuation mistake may be counted as a minor error, and whether it can affect your score or not completely depends on individual teachers.

When I first entered general practice, I was living in a small community on the East coast of lake Huron. People expected me to be..
