Task 1: Read and choose

Fog is a cloud in contact with or just above the surface of land or sea. It can be a major environmental hazard. Fog on highways can cause chain-reaction accidents involving dozens of cars. Delays and shutdowns at airports can cause economic losses to airlines and inconveniences to thousands of travelers. Fog at sea has always been a danger to navigation. Today, with supertankers carrying vast quantities of oil, fog increases the possibility of catastrophicoil spills.
The most common type of fog, radiation fog, forms at night, when moist air near the ground loses warmth through radiation on a clear night. This type of fog often occurs in valleys, such as California's San Joaquin Valley. Another common type, advection fog, results from the movement of warm, wet air over cold ground. The air loses temperature to the ground and condensation sets in. This type of fog often occurs along the California coast and the shores of the Great Lakes. Advection fog also forms when air associated with a warm ocean current blows across the surface of a cold current. The thick fogs of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada, are largely of this origin; because here the Labrador Current comes in contact with the warm Gulf Stream.
Two other types of fog are somewhat more unusual. Frontal fog occurs when two fronts of different temperatures meet, and rain from the warm front falls into the colder one, saturating the air. Steam fog appears when cold air picks up moisture by moving other warmer water.

Task 3: Read and choose
Over the past decade, e-books have revolutionized the way people consume written information. It will probably come as no surprise that the total global sales number continues to rise each year. There are several reasons why readers are buying more e-books. For starters, reading a lengthy e-book in front of your computer isn't the most comfortable thing to do. But since tablet sales have exploded, readers can now relax and read their favourite e-books in bed or on the beach. Many e-books are often sold at lower prices than traditional books. Since there is almost zero cost for producing e-books, some authors are offering their novels at lower prices. Another factor is convenience. In the past, keeping a large book collection meant setting aside a lot of extra space in one's home. With e-books, it is now possible for readers to carry a portable library, which contains thousands of books. To really understand the e-book market, it is important to keep up with national trends.
Recent data suggests that the e-book markets in the US and the UK have matured. In both of these countries, e-book sales account for roughly 20 percent of overall book sales. Although that percentage continues to increase, it is going up at a slower rate than in the past.
The popularity of e-books has exploded in Russia. In one poll, 70 percent of Russians claim to have read at least one e-book. However, publishers are not too pleased with this news because approximately 92 percent of e-books in Russia are acquired illegally.
In France, consumers don't appear to be too keen on e-books at this time. Although in 2012, e-book sales comprised about 3 percent of the market, it is predicted that this number will increase at a very slow pace. Some French people believe that reading e-books on small screens is uncomfortable. Others say that the French are a cultural exception, as they like the feeling of holding a dusty old physical book. This demonstrates that no matter how popular e-books get, it is unlikely that traditional books will disappear any time soon.
16. This year e-book sales in the US and the UK will probably _____.
A. increase drastically
B. keep going up
C. stay the same
D. start to decline
17. Which of the following is NOT a reason why e-books became popular worldwide?
A. People can now store more books easily.
B. Reading e-books recently became more comfortable.
C. Most popular novels are only offered as e-books.
D. A new type of reading device was invented.
18. The phrase "account for" in paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to _____.
A. know what has happened
B. are the explanation for
C. form the total of
D. are a particular part of
19. Why are publishers unhappy about the popularity of e-books in Russia?
A. The quality of e-books is poor.
B. Customers are not paying for them.
C. More people are returning to traditional books.
D. Only a small percentage of people read e-books.

Task 4: Describe the following picture
thi-jpeg.41439

Look at the picture!
The scenery is celestial. ItLooking far away, we can see the clear blue sky and the little clouds floating gently and the slight breeze drifting.Distant blue mountains same message same message after another. How majestic the mountains are!. Somewhere appear small, lovely houses and rows of trees which creates mysterious thing . The blue sea ripples along with the boats are traveling waves. The higher the sun, the greater the sand, and the direct entrance to the beach. On the shore, there are two shady trees and a green lawn. Also on the lawn on the left. , a man is sunbathing, he is looking at the boats and may be thinking about the future. And on the right side, a boy is sitting in the shade. Between the painting is a group camping. There were 19 children laughing together on the green lawn, throwing things in their hands look like: bottles, vases, bracelets, umbrellas, and rectangular objects.. They look very blissful and jubilant. It seems that not only are they but we are also happier because when we look at this picture, our precious memory of the childhood time relives inside us even though it was gone. And I think that this picture also said: It is the beauty of nature, the majestic mountains and rivers, the flowers and leaves of birds give people the desire to think about beauty and create beauty for themselves. The beauty of the sunrise sprout, a cloud of clouds, a lit night ... exaggerated many artists to create poetry, music, paintings. It is a good place for us to go camping, be closer to nature, not be constrained by the lessons, the hard work every day.

Challenge 2: Write a paragraph about Tet holiday.
I would like to talk about the Lunar New Year festival, also known as the Tet holiday, which is the occasion expected the most by Vietnamese people every year. The festival usually lasts for around 3-4 days, and it takes place when a new year comes according to the lunar calendar. Tết Nguyên Đán, more commonly known by its shortened name Tết, is the most important and popular holiday and festival in Vietnam. It is the Vietnamese New Year marking the arrival of spring based on the Lunar calendar. The name Tết Nguyên Đán is Sino-Vietnamese for Feast of the First Morning. There are some common things that people do during this festival. Tet holiday is a traditional holiday in Viet Nam. This is also a chance for everyone who lives apart from their family to gather together and catch up on with each other. I think when you get home, you should help your mom to decorate my home for the oncoming Tet holiday, visit the graves of their ancestors in their homeland. . Another thing that we usually do is that we give children some “lucky money” with the hope that it will bring fortune to those kids. The first day of Tết is reserved for the nuclear family. Children receive a red envelope containing money from their elders. This tradition is called “mừng tuổi” (happy new age) in the north and “lì xì” in the south. Usually, children wear their new clothes and give their elders the traditional Tết greetings before receiving the money. An indispensable thing in Tet holiday is Chung cake – a traditional cake of Vietnam. Chung cake has the square shape with the green symbolize for the earth as the traditional conception of Vietnamese people. The Chung cake is made from sticky rice, green bean, pork, onion – all the materials are the products from the harvest. And wish you Happy New Year! Wish you receive god is greatest bliss, life is happiest moments, And luck is greatest favors this year. Happy new year HMF!

Challenge 2: Write a paragraph about Tet holiday.
A special holiday in my country is the Tet holiday. Tet is a festival which occurs in late January or early February. It is a time we to clean and decorate their home. On New Year' eve , my mum prepares the five fruit tray to put on the altar. Family members gather to watch the fireworks on New Year' eve. Every year, Tet is celebrated on the first day of January in Vietnam and in some other countries with Vietnamese communities. peach blossom and the kumquat tree in the North, Central or apricot blossom in the South is considered to be indispensable preparation in the days adjacent to Tet. Then, during the New Year, families gather together, visit relatives, spend good wishes, celebrate the age and worship ancestors ..."January One Day" is the first New Year's Day and is considered the most important day of the whole New Year. Not to mention the good people, the age is invited to go to the ground, early this morning, the ancient Vietnamese people do not usually leave the house, only present New Year's offerings, parties and blessings in the family. Beside they think Sweeping during Tết is taboo or unlucky. The second day of the month is the day when there are activities of worship at home in the early morning.and exchange new year ' wishes to the parents. During Tet people give children lucky money. This tradition is called mừng tuổi (happy new age) in the north and lì xì in the south. On New Year people usually buy pumpkin seeds and watermelon seeds. Chưng cake is the traditional rice cake of Tet holiday. Day cake is round because it is the symbol of the sky. The traditional greetings are Happy New Year and gracious wishes of the new spring . Family member who live apart try to be together at Tet.

Challenge 2: Write a paragraph about Tet holiday.

Tet is often held between late January and early February. Tet holiday begins with the first day of January in the Lunar Year. Normally, it lasts for 5 days.
Vietnamese people usually spend nearly two weeks preparing for this event. One week before Tet, all members in families join in cleaning and decorating their houses with many colorful lines of lights on Peach blossom trees. Three days before Tet, we make Chung cakes. Besides Chung cakes, we also prepare pickled onion, candied fruits and seeds to serve the whole Tet holiday. Specifically, we buy many red envelopes to keep lucky money. There are many activities during Tet holiday. On New Year’s Eve, almost everyone goes out to see fireworks and remembers all the happy moments. On the first day of New Year, we usually go to pagoda first to pray for good things for the coming new year. After that, we have a good meal and then visit our relatives to give them best wishes of happiness, health and success. Adults give children lucky money to wish them good health and successful study. In my opinion, Tet is the most enjoyable holiday in Vietnam with valuable custom and many traditional activities. If you have chance to visit Vietnam on Tet, I am sure that you will like this holiday.

Challenge 2: Write a paragraph about Tet holiday.

Tet is a traditional holiday of our country. It often begins in late January and ends in early February. Tet is becomes a special occasion of reunion for families. At Tet, an apricot blossoms or an kumquat is indispensable decoration for every family in these days. We display a tray full of fruits and vases of flowers on the ancestral altar. Dogs are lucky animals. Their barking sounds like "gold". But one shouldn't present a cat because its cry sound like the Vietnamese word for poverty. Don't eat shirmps .They move backwards and you will not succeed in the New Year. Many people visit relatives to wish a happy new year. On Tet holiday, people have many recreational activities such as: tug of war, cooking rice, cock fighting, watching lion dance..... Adults will give lucky money to children. With me Tet is so good, because All family members gather and talk about resolutions for a happy new year.

Challenge 2: Write a paragraph about Tet holiday.
Lunar New Year or Tet is a traditional festival in Viet Nam. It's the biggest festival in Viet Nam. It is held in late January and early February. It's the time when family members reunite and celebrate the occasion together. Tet's preparation lasts many weeks. One or two days before Tet, people make Chung cake and Tet cake. Everyone is busy buying new clothes, cleaning and decorating their houses and cooking some traditional food such as: jam, pickled onion, spring roll, frozen meet and so on. Home is often decorated with plants and flowers at this time.. The kumquat tree with its ripe deep orange fruit is popular throughout the country. On the last day of the year, preparation for new year is completed. Families have a New Year's Eve supper together and expect the New Year's Eve. At the mid-night, everyone perform ritual offering to the ancestor on the New Year's Eve. People believe that what they do on the first day of the year will influence their luckiness during the whole year. On the first day of the new year, people visit relatives, friends, neighbors,...Children receive their lucky money inside red envelops, Some people go to pagoda to pray for a happy new year for their family. 1. Write a paragraph about the benefits of wearing school uniforms.
Nowadays, fashion is a popular issue; however, it leads to many complex problems in our society for students. Therefore, school officials should consider that school uniform regulations should be one of the most important parts of educations. I think students should wear their uniforms at school because of some reasons. Firstly, people should recognize that by wearing uniform, student will learn about discipline and that wearing proper and formal clothing is a way to respect people them. Secondly, That is there might not be any difference between rich and poor students, all of them will be treated equally. Strong evidences show that many people get bullied for being different among the crowd. So if all students wear school uniforms, there will be no differences between people from all walks of life. Thirdly, wearing uniforms also helps students focus more on studying. In other words, they do not need to think about what they are going to wear today or tomorrow, Instead, they may spend that time thinking about what they have learnt and what they will study. For example students are busy worrying whether they look good and fashionable or not, which dos not help because their main responsibility is studying. Furthermore, by wearing uniform helps students to be proud of their school where they study. They are reasons which I think wearing uniforms has many benefits. Thanks for your reading!
2. Write something about English box on HOCMAI forum.
Nowadays, with the development of national education, students of many ages have to learn a variety of subjects at school. In my opinion, studying foreign languages become an essential thing these days as it brings many benefits for the people. learning new foreign languages would be an exciting activity for the pupils since the process of learning will not focus only on the grammar structure and the vocabulary which is very hard for them to conceive. And HMF is a best solution for all students.
Currently, the foreign language box is one of the active box active on the forum. There are many advantages of the box. Firstly, it has many active members. It can be said that many members need to be praised like English Box Tmod Mod and Boss ,.... because they have done their job well in 2017. Knowledge is from broad to specific for members and answer some questions carefully, clearly. Secondly, the English box also organizes many topics on many training skills. Look at
https://diendan.hocmai.vn/threads/ren-ki-nang-nghe.647452/#post-3378099
....
Next, the English box always holds interesting contests. There are attractive and exciting events where members can improve knowledge and make friend. Take look at the English, event write about the picture,… Another significant point is that English box has an English club. My hobby is doing exercises in English box because they are almost virtually unlimited class, which classified by skill advanced classes based on the layer below secondary school therefore students of secondary school can fully support some exercises in their understanding.
However, there are some defects in English box that it needs to differentiate immediately. Firstly, many open classes, but only active in the first time after ineffective operation. Secondly, some answers are beyond the vocabulary of each person, making it difficult for the reader, in part due to mod and T-mod, the vocabulary is plentiful, in part because the respondent copies the external answer, leading both the respondents and the questioners.
There are some defects in English box. Firstly, Positive post-processing, including long post. Secondly, In the answer each members can add extensive knowledge. In addition, there should be a stimulating thought of the questioner. As long as the topic can be seen there is the exchange between members to ask questions and Mod & TMod. Further, we can re-operate some old topic. The Foreign Language box has a very good topic about rewriting sentences(about 3-4 years ago). For example
https://diendan.hocmai.vn/threads/color-red-text-ta-hoc-nhom-luyen-thi-dh-mon-tieng-anh.286521/
...
We can encourage members to participate in the card in the box, promote strengths and compensate for their shortcomings. Next, foreign language box members need more interaction with members. And we should have more exam material for each block, with detailed answers. Besides, we should open topics “Learn English from songs, folk tales,… Specifically, many songs will have a test based song lyrics. We can develop listening skills. The song is in mp3 format, cover name. Stories can be found in the skills of reading, translating,… So we will learn and play.
In my opinion, I always hope that English box will agree to do these way. Thank for your reading!

1. Write a paragraph about the benefits of wearing school uniforms.
Some people say that wearing uniform isn't necessary for all students when they are at school . But I think that wearing school uniform has many benefits because of these following reasons
To begin with, wearing helps students feel equal in many ways. If all the students wear uniforms, you can't don't know who is rich or poor. Morever, school uniform brings students together in a place where there is no racism, especially students of international schools. Another benefits, the use of uniforms at schools helps save parents’ money. Uniforms are usually at reasonable price; therefore, wearing uniforms from Monday to Friday will surely save parents’ money for buying their kids expensive clothes. In addition, wearing uniform encourages students to be pround of being students of their school because they are wearing uniforms with their school's name. Last but not least, wearing uniform is practical so that students don't have to think of what to wear everyday. Therefore, they can concentrate on their learning instead of thinking how to wear clothes today.
In short, there is likelihood that wearing uniforms helps erase the gap between the rich and the poor, keep students focused on their study and save parents' money on clothes.

2. Write something about English box on HOCMAI forum.
English plays an important roles in my life. Therefore, I always wanted to found a website where everyone from all over my country study and share English experience. A year ago, I found and choose a appoprit place on the Interner. It is box English on Hoc Mai Fourm(https://diendan.hocmai.vn/categories/tieng-anh.2494/)
Box English is one of the most dynamic box on Hoc Mai forum. It’s consisting of Pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, Traning skill And discussing and sharing. In the fist place, Box always works fast and correctly. Mod and Tmod help members answer the question as well as explain structure clearly.Morever, A mount of question increase every day. But the quality is not maximum. In additon, Mods and Tmods open many topics to add up new knowledge, practise skills,..such as: English classes from grade 6 to grade 11; revising good students of @Minh Nhí; Minigame CulQuiz; and so on.
Box has many strengths to promote. Firstly, The questions are supported with the fast speed : about 5 minutes. Because Mod and Tmod have variety knowledge, the quality of answers is also higher and higher. Exercises in Engish box are almost virtually unlimited object class, .Many topics are opened to revise knowledge in the class, pratise skills,..There are many exciting events, where members can improve English, make friends,..
However, English box has some drawbacks need solving. To begin with, many questions post wrong box or wrong title:”help me”. Another drawback, Many classes are opened a lot. In the first time, the classes work actively but then they work less . Morever, Some answer exceed the limit of interrogator because the vocabulary of members is variety or others member copy answers from outside.
Here are my solution to solve drawbacks. Firstly we need to work actively topics . Secondly, We celebrate many minigames, events to members share how to improve English. Thirdly, When each other answer question, we need to explain correctly.
In summary, Box English is developing day by day. It helps me a lot in my studying English. In the future, I trust that Box English will be over our country if it asserts and creates many things to attract more member from everywhere

1. Write a paragraph about the benefits of wearing school uniforms.
I think wearing school uniforms have many benefits for students.
Firstly, wearing school uniforms helps students not distinguish rich and poor. Rich or poor students are required to wear the same clothes to school, and poor students will not be inferior to their peers. Secondly, students wear uniforms look very beautiful and simple. The uniforms are beautifully designed so students can wear comfortably, students will not take time to select clothes to school. This will help students concentrate on learning instead of thinking how I would wear, what to wear to school. Thirdly, students who wear school uniforms will help to demonstrate their collective strength, school uniforms are a way for the school to show its own style. Moreover, wearing school uniforms encourages students to be proud of their school because the uniforms bear their school’s name. Finally, wearing uniforms will help students save money on shopping. They will not spend too much money to buy clothes because they always have to wear uniforms to school.
In conclusion, wearing uniforms is very beneficial and practical to students.

2. Write something about English box on HOCMAI forum.
Nowadays, when it comes to English, people immediately think of it as a global language: the official language of more than 53 countries and territories, the official language of the EU and the third language of the world. Most users are only after Chinese and Spanish. Understanding that, the Vietnamese education system has made English compulsory on school seats since elementary school. English is also a compulsory graduation exam. But the situation of learning English in Vietnam is still a headache for educators as well as for parents who want their children to be good at English. How to find a standard English learning method? How is training good? You are welcome to HMF online box!
English box is a learning tool that helps people improve their knowledge of English, where people ask questions, exchange, make friends, set up clubs, new playground useful Improve your skills to help you learn well.
English box brings many benefits to myself. When there are difficult exercises, the forms that I have not seen can be posted on the box. Box always have the TMod, Mod thick experience to support his enthusiasm. If they do not understand can ask again, in addition, the box also has useful topics to practice listening, reading, writing, grammar, ... classes for students who are good at classes, or learn. Other languages such as Japanese, French, .. very useful.
But not always perfect, box also has many disadvantages, I will list some common disadvantages as follows:
- Some of you posted on the box quite messy, like: "You help me with, I need urgent, help me, .." reduces the aesthetics of the box, look at the title was not good feeling.
- Some of you are not aware should have accidentally spam, dilute the topic.
- The status of copy of other sites.
- There are some exercise already on HMF but they are lazy to search.
* Solutions:
- Encourage you do it yourself, avoid lazy cases.
- Limit the use of Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, do yourself a favor and know where you are.
- Create a search box to help members can post before posting to avoid duplication, grave article.
- Asked HMF to regularly consider the box to handle the violation in time.
* Development direction for the English box:
- Sharing materials, HSG, .. for you need a certain subject
- Open the theme of entertainment, let people share videos, laugh story English, relax and can inspire learning English well.
- During the season to open the topic exam for students to study the class, if too little time should be subject to 10 exam preparation, aggregation of knowledge to help students in 9th grade easily review.
That's just my opinion. I believe in the future the English box will become the "best box of HMF" if we start acting now. And that will contribute to forum becoming the largest forum but also the most prestigious in Vietnam.

Today, almost all schools around the world require students to wear school uniforms. Each school uniform is different in style and color to create a unique identity for the school. However, at present in Vietnam is arguing a problem that is necessary for children to wear uniforms when going to school or not?And you, have you ever wondered why wearing school uniforms? The article below will give you the right perspective on the benefits of wearing school uniforms.
Firstly, wearing uniforms encourages students to be pround of being students of their school because they are wearing the uniforms with labels bearing their school's name.
Secondly, school uniforms are a way of creating equality in the school environment. When all students wear the same attire to school, they will be more likely to integrate into their school environment. Avoiding the rich and poor in the school environment makes it difficult for the children to become self-deprecating, shy of their classmates
Finally, Wearing a uniform also helps families avoid much of the cost of clothing and apparel. Because if the young people chose the costumes, the fashion criteria will be most noticeable and the new fashion will change every day so the parents will spend a lot of money to serve our little friends. running every day. This will not be a problem for well-off families, but for families with no conditions it is a big problem. So the financial burden will be greatly reduced by making school uniforms.. Besides ,wearing uniforms is practical. You don't have to thinkof what to wear every day.
In short, students in secondary should wear uniforms

Ex2
The meaning: English classes help members exchange learning, improve their English skills. Besides that is the practice for members. English Box helps you practice skills such as listening, writing, .... This is where the members to answer the questions, difficult exercises and improve their knowledge. .
However, many of you , who depend on others' answers without thinking copied theraw answers
Solution
- English clubs need to be categorized to provide their ability to provide a solution to them to learn well. Dong hoi with too weak members or no sense of operation should be eliminated.
- Need to encourage members to participate in solving, solving, and compensating problems for their shortcomings.
-Open the topic of Learning English through various methods, HMF members or Mods, TMods can share learning styles such as: Learning by song, through jokes, idioms, and through videos or video clips. For example, every week a video, movie clips, interesting songs .. and grammar, structure, vocabulary are included, and can be given a small exercise attached below.
Organize more than one mini-game, game or event set for a year. The idea of the above issues should be attractive.
I think current English box is not really perfect. Managers should develop more features to appeal to the youth. I believe that in the future , English box will be more complete and interesting to attract members to learn more
