The + Adjective - Used to + Infinitive

Which as a connector
Pronunciation /ɒ/ and /ɔ:/ ​

A. Lí thuyết

I. The + Adjective
- The + Adjective: tập hợp chỉ một nhóm người

Example:

- The poor: những người nghèo
- The blind: những người mù
- The old: những người già
- The rich: những người giàu

II. Used to + Infinitive

- Used to + Infinitive được dùng để chỉ một thói quen trong quá khứ.

Example:

· When I was young, I used to go swimming in this river.

· My sister used to be afraid of dogs.

III. Which as a connector

-Từ nối which là đại từ quan hệ có thể được dùng trong mệnh đề quan hệ nối tiếp (sentential relative clause). Mệnh đề quan hệ loại này không bổ nghĩa cho danh từ tiền ngữ mà bổ sung thông tin cho toàn bộ mệnh đề chính hoặc nêu ý kiến, thái độ của người nói. Mệnh đề này luôn đững cuối câu.

Example: Tom passed the driving test, which surprised everyone. (Tom thi đậu kì thi lấy bằng lái xe, điều này khiến mọi người ngạc nhiên.)

*NOTE:

- Mệnh đề quan hệ nối tiếp phải được đặt sau mệnh đề chính, và ngăn cách với mệnh đề chính bằng dấu phẩy.

- Ta chỉ được dùng đại từ quan hệ which như một từ nối trong mệnh đề quan hệ nối tiếp.

A. Lí thuyết

I. The Present Perfect

1. Cách dùng

- Diễn tả 1 sự việc hay hành động bắt đầu trong quá khứ, kéo dài liên tục cho đến hiện tại và còn có thể tiếp tục trong tương lai.

Example:

· We have learned English for 7 years.

· He has had his car since he was 21.

- Diễn tả 1 hành động hay 1 sự việc xảy ra và chấm dứt trong quá khứ nhưng không xác định rõ thời gian.

Example:

· She has come here once in her life.

· I have had two crashes in my career as a taxi driver.

- Diễn tả 1 hành động hay 1 sự việc xảy ra trong quá khứ mà kết quả vẫn còn lưu lại trong hiện tại.

Example:

· She has broken her leg, so she can’t play tennis.

· I can’t do my homework because I have lost my pen.

- Diễn tả 1 hành động vừa mới xảy ra, trạng từ just thường được dùng với cách này. Tuy nhiên người Mỹ vẫn dùng thì QKĐ để diễn tả hành động này.

Example:

· I (have) just received a letter from my cousin.

· She (has) just told me this story.

- Diễn tả trải nghiệm của ai đó: Cách dùng này thường đi với các từ diễn đạt số lần: once – 1 lần; twice – 2 lần; several times – vài lần; first time – lần đầu tiên; second time – lần thứ 2; …

Example: Have you ever tried Japanese food? - Yes, I have enjoyed it once with my friends.

NOTE: Phân biệt cách dùng của have gone to/ have been to/ have been in

- Đại từ quan hệ làm chủ ngữ: who, that (không thể bị lược bỏ trong câu)

Example: The man who is laughing is my friend. = The man that is laughing is my friend.

- Đại từ quan hệ làm tân ngữ: who, whom, that (có thể bị lược bỏ trong câu)

Example: He is the singer who I like best.

= He is the singer whom I like best.
= He is the singer that I like best.
= He is the singer I like best. ​

- ĐTQH làm chủ ngữ: which, that (không thể bị lược bỏ trong câu)

Example: The cat which is sleeping is our pet.

= The cat that is sleeping is our pet. ​

- ĐTQH làm tân ngữ: which, that (có thể bị lược bỏ trong câu)

Example: It is the film which I like best.

= It is the film that I like best.
= It is the film I like best.​

A. Lí thuyết
I. The Present Progressive (with a future meaning)

- Thì Hiện tại tiếp diễn được dùng diễn tả sự sắp xếp hay kế hoạch trong tương lai, thường có từ chỉ thời gian.

Example:
· What are you doing tonight?
· I am going to the cinema with my brother tonight.

II. Be going to

- Diễn tả 1 ý định đã được sắp đặt trước.
Example: He is going to buy a new computer. (He has saved for years)

- Diễn tả một dự đoán có căn cứ
Example: There isn’t a cloud in the sky. It is going to be a lovely day.

- Diễn tả 1 quyết tâm (Có thể thay thế bằng “will” )
Example: We will / are going to win the match.
