IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD NOT DO THAT.

ORDER

PROPOSE

RECOMMEND

REQUIRE

SUGGEST

URGE

- Thí dụ:

+ WE DEMAND THAT HE DO IT.

+ THE PRESIDENT REQUESTS THAT YOU BE PRESENT AT THE MEETING.

ASK

ORDER

REQUIRE

URGE

- Thí dụ:

+ WE ASK THAT SHE BE PRESENT.

+ WE ASK HER TO BE PRESENT.

IT IS ADVISABLE THAT...

IT IS CRUCIAL THAT...

IT IS DESIRABLE THAT...

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT...

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT...

IT IS MANDATORY THAT...

IT IS NECESSARY THAT...

IT IS VITAL THAT...

- Thí dụ:

+ IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WE VOTE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

+ THE MANAGER INSISTS THAT THE CAR PARK BE LOCKED AT NIGHT.

* LƯU Ý:

+ Câu hiện tại: IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT SHE BE PRESENT.

Câu quá khứ: IT WAS ESSENTIAL THAT SHE BE PRESENT.

+ Câu hiện tại: THE PRESIDENT REQUESTS THAT THEY STOP THE OCCUPATION.

Câu quá khứ: THE PRESIDENT REQUESTED THAT THEY STOP THE OCCUPATION.

LONG LIVE THE KING ! (Câu này tương tự như: Đức Vua Vạn Tuế)

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN ! (tương tự: Nữ Hoàng Vạn Tuế!)

BE THAT AS IT MAY, ...

* Trường hợp 1 - Đảo ngữ:

+ Bình thường: IF I HAD KNOWN THAT WOULD HAPPEN, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM THE MONEY.

-> Đảo ngữ: HAD I KNOWN THAT WOULD HAPPEN, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM THE MONEY.

+ Bình thường: IF I WERE TO OFFER YOU A JOB, I WOULD NEED A STRONG RECOMMENDATION FROM YOUR FORMER EMPLOYER.

-> Đảo ngữ: WERE I TO OFFER YOU A JOB, I WOULD NEED A STRONG RECOMMENDATION FROM YOU FORMER EMPLOYER.

+ Bình thường: IF THAT SHOULD HAPPEN, I'D BE READY FOR IT.

-> Đảo ngữ: SHOULD THAT HAPPEN, I'D BE READY FOR IT.

Một câu điều kiện ẩn thường dùng đến những từ hoặc cụm từ sau: WITH, WITHOUT, OTHERWISE, IF SO, IF NOT, WHAT IF.

+ WITH SOME TRAINING, YOU COULD BECOME A GREAT SINGER. (= IF YOU HAD SOME TRAINING, YOU COULD...)

+ WITHOUT HER, I WOULD DIE. (= IF I DIDN'T HAVE HER, I WOULD DIE.)

+ IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU LET PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU.

-> IF SO, YOU NEED TO LEARN TO BE MORE ASSERTIVE.

-> IF NOT, MAYBE YOU'RE JUST UNLUCKY.

+ YOU SHOULD OFFER HIM A GOOD SALARY. OTHERWISE, HE WILL NOT TAKE THE JOB. (= IF YOU DON'T, HE WILL NOT TAKE THE JOB.)

+ WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THE TRUTH? (= WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I TOLD YOU THE TRUTH?)
( Tối up tiếp =)) ) !

Ví dụ: China = Trung Quốc, England = nước Anh, The Great Walls = Vạn Lý Trường Thành, Ha Long Bay = Vịnh Hạ Long, President Bill Clinton = Tổng thống Bill Clinton...

Thí dụ: TWO APPLES = hai trái táo

TABLE = cái bàn TABLES (2 cái bàn trở lên)

CHAIR = cái ghế CHAIRS

HOUSE = căn nhà HOUSES

STREET = con đường STREETS

RIVER = con sông RIVERS

BIRD = con chim BIRDS

CAR = xe hơi CARS

BICYCLE = xe đạp BICYCLES

ONE FISH = 1 con cá TWO FISHES = 2 con cá

ONE BOX = 1 cái hộp TWO BOXES = 2 cái hộp

ONE BUS = 1 xe buýt TWO BUSES = 2 xe buýt

ONE WATCH = 1 cái đồng hồ đeo tay TWO WATCHES = 2 cái đồng

ONE QUIZ = 1 câu trắc nghiệm TWO QUIZZES

Những danh từ tận cùng bằng một phụ âm và Y: ĐỔI Y thành I và THÊM "ES". Thí dụ:

Số ít Số nhiều

ONE BUTTERFLY = 1 con bướm TWO BUTTERFLIES = 2 con bướm

ONE BABY = 1 em bé TWO BABIES = 2 em bé

ONE WOLF = 1 con sói TWO WOLVES = 2 con sói (BỎ F, THÊM VES)

ONE WIFE = 1 người vợ TWO WIVES (BỎ FE, THÊM VES)
