1. AT
- Được dùng để chỉ thời gian trong ngày
at 5 o'clock / 11.30 / midnight / night / lunchtime / sunset / sunrise / dawn / noon
- Được dùng để chỉ một dịp lễ hội, một thời khắc nào đó
at the weekend / Easter / Christmas [Người Mĩ và Úc dùng on the weekend]
at present / the moment / (this / that) time / the same time
- Được dùng để tạo thành 1 cụm giới từ
at the end / the beginning of (this month/....) / the age of (25 / ....)
2. ON
- Được dùng để chỉ thứ trong tuần, ngày trong tháng
on Monday, on 9th April, on this / that day
- Được dùng để chỉ buối trong ngày hoặc 1 ngày cụ thể.
on Sunday evenings, on Christmas (Easter) Day, on New Year's Day, on one's birthday
3. IN
- Được dùng cho buổi trong ngày nói cung, 1 kì nghỉ hoặc 1 học kì
in the morning / afternoon / evening, in the Easter holiday, in the summer team.
- Được dùng cho tháng, mùa năm, thập niên, thế kỉ, thời đại và thiên niên kỉ
in August, in (the) summer, in 2002, in the 1990s, in the 20th century, in the middle ages, in the 3rd millennium
- Được dùng trong 1 số cụm từ để chỉ một khoảng thời gian trong T.lai
- Được dùng trong cụm từ "in the end" với nghĩa cuối cùng ( = finally, at last)
in a moment, in a few minute, in an hour, in a day, in a week, in 6 months
*NOTE:
- Không dùng giới từ "at, on, in" trước all, each, some, this, next, last, every, today, yesterday, tomorrow.
- Ngoài các giới từ "at, on in" còn có các giới từ chỉ thời gian sau đây:
a) Until, till (cho đến...)
b) from ... to ... (từ ... đến ... )
c) by (trước hoặc đến 1 thời điểm nào đó)
d) for (trong thời gian bao lâu)
e) since (từ 1 thời điểm nào đó)
f) during (trong 1 lúc nào đó)
II. Adverb clauses of result
So + result (So – kết quả/ hậu quả)
So (vì thế; vì vậy; cho nên) là một liên từ (conjunction) được dùng để diễn đạt kết quà của một sự việc hoặc một hành động. Mệnh đề bắt đầu bằng So được gọi là mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ kết quả (Adverb clauses of result).
Example:
*Nâng cao:
- We arrived late, so we missed the beginning of the film. (Chúng tôi đến trễ, vì thế chúng tôi bỏ lỡ phần đầu của bộ phim.)
- It was cold, so I turned the heating on. (Trời lạnh, vì vậy tôi đã mở hệ thống sưởi.)
- The computer didn't work, so he took it back to the shop. (Máy vi tính không hoạt động, vì vậy anh ấy đã mang nó trở lại cửa hàng.)
a) SO ... THAT (quá ... đến nỗi)
S + V + so + adj/ adv + that + S + V
Example: It was so dark that I couldn't see anything.
- Nếu sau so có many, much, few, little thì ta có cấu trúc:
S + V + so + many / few + N (đếm được, số nhiều) / much / little + N (không đếm được) + that + S + V
Example:
+) The Smiths had so many children that they formed their own baseball team.
+) He has invested so much money in the project that he can't abandon it now.
- Một cấu trúc khác của SO ... THAT
S + V + so + adj + a + N (đếm được số ít) + that ....
Example: It was so hot a day that wendecided to stay indoors.
b) SUCH ... THAT (quá .... đến nỗi)
S + V + such + (a/ an) + adj + N + that +S + V
Example: It was such a hot day that we decided to stay indoors.

Example: It was so dark that I couldn't see anything.
- Nếu sau so có many, much, few, little thì ta có cấu trúc:
S + V + so + many / few + N (đếm được, số nhiều) / much / little + N (không đếm được) + that + S + V
Example:
