1, Write a letter to the head of the local authorities to complain about the noise which the Karaoke shop causes every day and night
Dear sir,
I would like to bring your attention on my complaint against persistent noises
There have been persistent noises coming from the Karaoke shop. The noises happen all day long, especially on weekends. I know that the people may want to let their hair down during the weekends but it has been over five consecutive weekends that the noises keep the residents living around the shop awake. Maybe the owner of the shop want to make his pile, yet he should consider whether this is the perfect place to start a Karaoke business or not. A few walks to the shop is a kindergarten. Just imagine how annoying it is when the kids are about to sleep and the music starts to play.
Despite repeated requests to curb the noises as they are disturbing the other residents, there has been no change. This has become a nuisance which has been tolerated for too long. The constant vibrations from the blare of the music, the noise from human chattering are causing me bouts of migraines. We have no problem with their singing; we just request them to keep the volume down so that the others are not disturbed.
I, hereby, kindly request you to investigate and take the appropriate action to rectify the issue so that the other tenants here can enjoy the harmonious living we once had.
I appreciate your prompt action to this complaint.
Yours faithfully,
.............
2.Your teacher has asked you to write a story for E language magazine. The story must begin with the following words: It was only a small mistake but it changed my life forever
It was only a small mistake but it changed my life forever. In high school, I was a fairly good student, and my grades were always fairly good. But I was never a top student, particularly among my hardworking and overachieving classmates. Towards the end of my senior year, I got accepted to a very good liberal arts college and got a very decent financial aid package.
From the outside, my situation seemed great. However, even though I am now in my junior year of college, I do not have any good college friends. Social life at my college revolves around Greek life and partying and I could not be any more different from the average student at my college. I tried transferring colleges during my sophomore year, but as my family’s financial situation had further deteriorated, it was unlikely that I would get the same amount of financial aid at another college.
If I had gotten top grades in high school, I could have applied to merit scholarships and be in colleges that I could fit in. I am grateful to have a great family and good friends from high school, but I do know that I would have been happier at another college.
This mistake has taught me several lessons. Being in a college where I stand out from everyone else has taught me about myself and my values. Most importantly, I have recognized the importance of hard work. When it comes to success, nothing can beat the importance of hard work.
