Young women who participate in beauty contests ( help) ____ to keep alive and outdated view of women: that a woman's most important asset is how she looks. I'm against beauty contests for this reason.
Women ( work ) very hard through the years to change their image. They have been trying to prove that the value of a women doesn't lie solely in her beauty. The world just ( begin) to recognize that women are as intelligent, capable, wise and strong in character as men are and that there are virtues more important than look when (judge) people. When women focus attention on their bodies by competing for the top prizes in beauty contests, they encourage people to value them for their beauty alone. It's 5 (demean) to say that beauty alone determines one's worth.
Beauty contests not only encourage spectators to judge women by their appearance, but they enourage this attitude in the contestants as well. These yound women spend months 6 (diet) to become " right" size and 7 ( learn) how to dress, wear makeup. walk just right so that some judges 8 (call) them beautiful. I think it's great for women to feel good about her appearance, but looks 9 ( become) an obsession. There are too many other, more important, concerns in a young woman's life: learningdeveloping friendships, and preparing for a career and perhaps a family,
As long as there are beauty contests, women 10 (not appreciate) as well-rounded complex human beings. Let's abolish beauty contests now.
