1. Past participle ( -ed ) & Present participle ( -ing )
Dạng cơ bản ở đây là rút gọn của mệnh đề quan hệ (who, whom, which,...)
a) Present participle
Đoạn câu bắt đầu bằng ( -ing ) này mang nghĩa chủ động.
Ex: The woman carrying a bag is Miss Lien.
Người phụ nữ mang theo một chiếc túi là cô Liên.
Nếu được viết sang mệnh đề quan hệ thì sẽ có dạng như sau
The woman who is carrying/ carries a bag is Miss Lien
b) Past participle ( -ed )
Đoạn câu bắt đầu bằng ( -ed / v3 ) mang nghĩa bị động
Ex: The old lamp made in China is five dollars.
Chiếc đèn cũ được sản xuất tại Trung Quốc có giá năm đô la.
Nếu được viết sang mệnh đề quan hệ thì sẽ có dạng như sau
The old lamp which is/was made in China is five dollars
2. Lời yêu cầu lịch sự
Would you mind/ Do you mind + Ving (Xin bạn vui lòng...)
Ex: Would/Do you mind turning on the light?
Do you mind if I + Vs/es
Would you mind if I + V2/ed
(Bạn có cảm thấy phiền khi.....)
Ex: Do you mind if I postpone our meeting?
Would you mind if I turned on the air conditioner?
