The invention of electric telegraph gave birth to the communication industry. Although Samuel Morse succeeded in making the invention useful in 1837, it was not until 1843 that the first telegraph line of consequence was constructed. A pioneering study by Donald Apple yard made the astounding discovery that a sudden increase in the volume of traffic through an area affects people in the way that a sudden increase in crime does.
