Challenge 2:
- Tet holiday is a special occasion which helps us have more time to reunite and stay with our family. During these days, we always wish a new year with good health, lucks and success. Preparation for Tet often begins a week before the actual celebration. At this time, the most important thing is that we need to clean and decorate our house. Of course, a branch of peach blossom, a kumquat tree or any other types of flowers are also crucial because it is said to be the symbol of vitality and beauty. Moreover, many traditional dishes will get ready such as steamed glutinous rice, pickled onion, chicken, spring roll, Chung cake and some confectioneries like ginger jams, candies, etc. The ancestral altar will also be tidied up. In our country, people will have a five-fruit tray in their altar. This tray includes banana, oranges, kumquats, pomelos, finger citrons. Each fruit has an own meaning but the common meaning is to bring lucky and happiness. After completing all these work, we will see a programme called " Meet each other at the end of the year and feel enthusiatic to wait for the watch-night time. The first day of Tet is reserved for our family and relatives. The children will receive lucky money from the elders. Then, these families often warmly greet the first person enter their house. This act is called “ First - foot" which is a special custom of our country. During this day people will visit their family, relatives and give them the best wishes for a new year. Traditionally but strictly, "visit Paternal side on the first day, Maternal side on the second day and Teachers on the third day". These others days, people are interested in enjoying many exciting games. When the festival ends, people return to their work or their study. However, these spring activities still continue happening. In conclusion, I like cosy and fresh atmosphere in Tet holiday.

Tet or Lunar New Year holiday is one of the most important celebrations in my country as well as other Asian countries.This is a transitional period between old year and New Year which occurs in late january or early february. It is an occasion for everyone to commemorate ancestors, pilgrims and family reunions. There are three main stages in this festival. Before Tet, everyone often clean and decorate thier houses and prepare some tradition food like sticky rice cakes, spring rolls.On New Year's Eve, the very first moments of another year is that everyone visit the relatives and have big meals with all of their family members gathering after a busy year. Not surprisingly,the children receive many red envelope containing lucky money as soon as they wish their elders lots of good wishes. Every year when the flowers bloom and the swallows flock together, Vietnamese from every part of the country will go back home for a family reunion Tet. On these special days, people always prepare everything excitedly. Before the actual festival, everyone cleans and decorates their houses with ochna integerrima trees, some lanterns or red couplets and goes to the Tet markets. A five-fruit tray is indispensable for each Vietnamese family on the ancestor altar, which is a symbol of the devotion to the ancestors. But the preparation will not be perfect without these traditional dishes: banh chung, chicken sticky rice, spring rolls, fatty pork, pickled onion, candied fruits, etc. After everything have finished, all of the Vietnamese look forward to watching firework on the New Year’s Eve. All the firework shines in the sky, marks that three hundred and sixty-five days has passed and a happy new year is coming. "Visit Paternal side on the first day, Maternal side on the second day and Teachers on the third day". People often visit their family, relatives and friends in three first days. Everyone wishes one another a good health, laughter, luck, prosperity, and success in their life. Little children smile so brightly when they get lucky money from the adults. On the next days, everyone will go to the pagodas or take part in folk games. The games are held to stick people together and let children get to know more about their hometown tradition. This holiday is also an occasion for Vietnamese to promote the spirit “leaves protect the tattered ones”. The charities or donors or even the schools will give foods, charitable houses to the poor and hungry. All of those activities in Tet are the miracle puzzle pieces, connect together to become a colorful picture of a happy and warm Lunar New Year. ​

In conclusion, I think wearing school uniforms is good for all students and it is suitable for me.

Of all boxes on HOCMAI forum, English box is one of the most active boxes. This is where many English skills such as speaking, listening,...can be improved .There are a lot of excellent Mod and Tmod here whom will help us much in English . At present, with the growing of myself, I have changed a lot about my costume. Previously, at a young age, I usually wore mostly simple clothes that were extremely beautiful to me. For example, an underarm suit or a three-hole dress made me happy with myself. However, as I grow older, getting more and more aware of things around me, I gradually form a new style for myself. Although at the age of 15 my parents often told me that I should choose mature maturity but everyday at home or away, I still like to wear dynamic clothes a little wide to create the most comfortable feeling for myself. I usually choose my clothes to suit my living environment and work. Normally, when I was in school, I dressed quite comfortably and now I am quite picky. When I was little I liked to wear "cool" clothes because it was very comfortable but when I was growing up, I did not feel like having those clothes, I seemed to want to cover my whole body with The shirt is quite discreet and very rarely wears openings. I try to choose school suits like neck shirts, jeans and a pair of sports shoes. Sometimes I had to replace some clothes or new pants just because the thoughts in my head overwhelmed my brain. Maybe because I'm afraid of wearing my clothes will annoy others. But sometimes I say to myself: my work does not care about anyone's thoughts on anything. Because of that, I changed my mind. I gradually interested in myself, wearing what I like, I want to ignore what others think. To me of the present, it makes me feel more self-confident. I always wanted to create my own individuality to stand out. So I always have clothes with different personality to change themselves without being too ridiculous. Also, if I was dressed up in the past, then my dress would be chosen to suit my mood: if I am happy, I will wear a little more color such as white, blue, yellow, red, green,pink,..., or if I am sad the clothes are dark.The dark color I usually choose is black or grey. I find that my work helps regulate emotions very well. At first, my coordination was not approved by my parents, but my parents gradually became more sympathetic to me and often rely on my clothes to understand me better. They gradually shared with me the stress of life. Because of that, I think that my mapping is perfectly correct. I am very grateful to myself for the past, the day I realized that it was my dress that made me realize many of the good things in life.

Challenge 1: Talk about your fashion tastes and how they have changed overtime.

Hello everyone, today I would like to tell you my fashion tastes and how they have changed overtime. Fashion is a language of signs, it can say something of our soul. Fashion has a significant effect on self-respect and confidence. Therefore, sensible styles will always be the best choice for me.
When I was eight years old, I like looking lovely and lively. My clothes were often cotton or poliester because my mother wanted me to be most as comfortable as possible. Pink and yellow dresses or shirts were alway the best for me. I remember at that time, I used to cry crocodile tears only because I wanted my parents to buy me expensive princess dresses. My parents scolded me a lot for this. Every time reliving that, I am really embarrassed. My mother would made my hair done in pigtails with ribbons, especially on Tet holiday or any important celebrations and sometimes when I go to school.
About two years later, I grew more and still loved adorable styles, but a little bit more simple. I was interested in more bright colors, such as green, orange, blue, etc. I didn’t thank to my mother but put my hair up by myself. My aunt suggested me to wear ballet flats, but I prefered comfortable sandals.
Time flies so fast that I’m a teenager now. At present, I don’t like lovely styles like before anymore. But it doesn’t mean I follow fashion trends like my school friends, I’m still a kid. I like ponytail hairstyle and to be in lively T-shirts and jeans. They make me look stronger than the other girls. I like wearing sneakers better than flats every school day. For me, homeliness is to respect everyone and myself.
Everything will change, and people will, too. I think in the future, when I am at about the age of eighteen or twenty, I will have a try at vintage styles. How wonderful it is to wear a yellow floral dress or a pink midi skirt!
My citizenship education teacher always tells us to be casual in lifestyle, especially in wearing because that is your first impression in the others’ eyes. But in today’s modern world, people easily lose control in following fashion trends, they are called “slaves to fashion”. They think “fashion” is offensive clothes, they don’t care how others think about them. “A coin has two sides”, so it does in this instance. Sometimes, following the crowd is good, but as a matter of fact, it’s not always the best choice for you. Maybe the fashion trends are so modern and you look so cool in them, but they are just “cool” at the time. But casual styles will never go out of style, they are endless!
Besides, there are still many people who know how to respect the others in their wearing. They may sometimes follow the trends, but they are selective.
The question is: What do we have to do to keep judicious in wearing? Each of us has to choose the suitable outfits for ourselves, then for the others. That will make up the image of you and also your county in the foreigners’ eyes. Respect yourself and others will respect you.

If God gave me three wishes, I would wish...
- For my family first. Last summer, my father was hospitalized for a bad stroke. My mother is serious no less than my father, she has a congenital heart disease. And my big brother is going to enter the upcoming national college entrance examination. I would wish my whole family good health, luck and happiness.
- For my better learning outcomes. So in the future, I will find a good job to earn lots of money. Thence I will be able to help my family and set up a charity to feed the hungry.
- I could stay here in Ho Chi Minh City longer. My family is going to move to Ha Noi this July because all my relatives are there. However, I don’t want this. Although Ho Chi Minh City is not where I was born, this city has strongly attached to me for ten years. I don’t think I can overcome the nostalgia of my neighbors, friends, teachers and my little dog.
However, wishes are just wishes. I must help myself by working harder, obeying my parents and spending last moments with my best friends. Thence, my family will be always happy, I will be able to make my dreams come true and will never regret for anything because I will keep my last days for friends as close at heart as possible.
2. What important goals have you set in the past, and how successful have you been in achieving them ?
If you will have clear objectives, you will be able to create a solid plan of action to save time and this will guide you into the right way. Therefore, last year, I have set some goals to challenge myself.
- My most important one is to study at Ha Noi Foreign Trade University because I extremely love English. I have never stopped striving in learning English, Literature and Mathematics. So I won some prizes such as the third prize in an English speaking contest at school and the first prize in a district level Literature contest. However, I won’t be haughty but always be humble to be better, especially at Mathematics.
- My second goal is to have reading habit. I know such a book will help me expand my vocabulary and improve my writing. So I have tried to be patient for this. I have spent about two hours a day to read books. And now, it is not only my habit, reading books became my hobby. I DID success!
3. In your opinion, how should people behave in public places? Do you think it's important to speak up when people behave inconsiderately in public?
- Personally, people should be polite in their behavior in public places. Choose the suitable outfits to respect yourself and the others; try to keep your feeling in mind although you really want to voice your excitement; be sure to wear clean and fresh clothing and don’t smoke if you don’t want to annoy the others! People must behave knowledgeably in public places.
- It is extremely important to speak up when people behave inconsiderately in public. We need to be tolerant and speak up politely, if not, people won’t satisfy. Thence we can build a wonderful image of ourselves and our country in the foreigners’ eyes.

Absolutely! It’s completely possible for parents and children to be friends. Parents are usually opinionated, they seldom let their children express their opinions, aspirations and concerns. 2. Do you have a five year plan for your life?

Yes, I do. My five year plan is simple because I’m only a seventh-grade pupil. In the next five years, I must work harder to make my dream comes true, I want to become a translator. Beside, I will improve my communication skills and learn to do housework.​

3. How do you maintain your motivation when you fail?

When I fail, I may be a bit sad. Then, to be more optimistic, I say to myself: After every failure, you must learn from that mistake to complete yourself. I listen to music, read books and talk to my parents to help my mind being comfortable. I might fall, but I will never give up.​

4. Are you a determined person? Are you a stubborn person?

I’m very determined, but sometimes extremely stubborn. If I set a goal, I will not stop until it’s done, no matter where that goal will take me. As long as it isn’t wrong, I will still be determinded and stubborn.​

My answer can’t simply be a “Yes” or “No”. Because, to me, this is only partly true. Firstly, the rich are growing richer. Most of them are smart, they can find the way to get more money. Secondly, the poor are not growing poorer, they are still poor like before, but the gap between “rich” and “poor” becomes wider day by day. It makes people think that the poor are getting poorer.​

What do you think the world would be like if some day we didn’t have a TV or Internet?

TVs and Internet are indispensable in our modern age. They have brought us a lot of important news and helped us to take some time out from our busy schedule. Wonder how the world would be if some day we didn’t have a television or Internet.
One of the advantages of television and Internet is that they have shrunk the world and reduced distances. If the TV and Internet were never invented, this would have been a major hurdle. We haven’t been able to know or see what is happening on the other parts of the world and aquire new important knowledge. Aquiring knowledge would have been still possible by newspapers, but getting information from the Internet is quicker and more convenient; and we just have known those problems but haven’t see what others are going through, actually. Moreover, most of the businesses advertise themselves online. Without the Internet, their products would haven’t been well-advertised.
Nevertheless, not to have a television or Internet might be better in some cases. Many people abuse the TV and Internet by watching films in a long time, playing games too much, etc. So if there would not be Internet or any TVs, people would be more active. We would have gone outdoors and greeted our neighbors with a smile every day. It’s so nice, isn’t it? Besides, we would also have had a healthier habit, for example, to go jogging, to ride a bike or to do yoga. Thence, we would have been less able to suffer from health problems and had a healthier lifestyle. But that there are TVs and Internet is still fine for people who know how to keep balance, not to let those affect their work and social life.
However, we can’t deny the importance of the TV and Internet. If some day we did not have a TV or Internet, the world would have been so different and backward. We really need them. So they are just bad when people don’t use them sensibly. Don’t sit in front of the television for such a long time or you can end up with a headache or an eyes problem. Don’t abuse the Internet to cheat people or any bad things. Let’s turn off our TVs, be offline in a day to stay closer to everyone around us. A: "I usually spend about 20 minutes on the step master, and then lift weights for about an hour."
B: "Do you go everyday?"
A: "No. I try to go 4 times a week, but lately, I've been only going about 2 times a week. That's why I need you there. You should join."
B: "Will you help me to get some girls?"
A: "If you get rid of that belly of yours, I promise you will have a better chance for girls. Anyways, there are so many fine chicks working out at the club."

Yes, because if they are friends, everything in their family will be more easy. Parents will understand more about their children and from that they will find ways to behave with their parents. Children will feel more comfortable, too.

Yes. My five-year plan is try my best to study well now and then. After that I can come to my dream university
3. How do you maintain your motivation when you fail?
When I fail, I will be a bit or very sad depend on how this work is. But I always try to smile so much to embrace my. emotions
4. Are you a determined person? Are you a stubborn person?
I am not sure about this. But I think I'm a quite stubborn person. Sometimes I do things myself and don't ask anyone. My father had told me about that and I feel I need to retouch my character. It's very neccessary for me.
5. Do you believe that the rich are growing richer, and the poor are growing poorer?
No, I don't. I think if the rich do not know how to strive for the future, they will quickly fall down and become passive people who gradually lose all their possessions and become poor soon. If the poor build their businesses, they will strive for a better future and they will succeed.

What do you think the world would be like if some day we didn’t have a TV or Internet?
I think if someday we didn't have a TV or Internet, life will be upside down. As we know, by TV and Internet we will update information and access social networking sites much faster. So If life lacks it, then our lives will face many disadvantages. For children they will feel bored because today their lives are so much connected to the Internet and TV. But there is also a good chance that they will have more exposure to the outside world. They will have more friends and not become live on the Internet. For adults, they have a lot of inconvenience in their work. They will not be able to update market information without the internet. In conclusion, I think we should have a TV or Internet in our life.
