Mặc dù có mẫu make + O + V nhưng viết như này người ta có thể hiểu nhầm have ở đây ngang bằng chức năng với make và là động từ của 'that' thì không hay.

Nếu phía trước có first như này, thì phía sau nên để ở dạng TO V, ở đây là bị động nên: finished-->to be finished. Giành được vị trí nào, người ta còn dùng finish in, nếu cần thì thêm 'in' vào.

to write --> writing: anh ta dừng việc đang làm là write, và chuyển sang việc khác là leave for... .

which có thể thay thế cho cả một mệnh đề, diễn tả sự việc trước đó có tính chất hay kết quả như nào, mang tính bình luận.

by far hay dùng bổ nghĩa (về mức độ) cho so sánh hơn
