

Vietnamese lanterns are made of bamboo for the frame, with silk for the screen. The glowing bright colors of these lanterns look very beautiful especially in the night.
The process of making a lantern consists of two phases: knitting bamboo frame and covering it with colourful silk.
Firstly, bamboo lath will attach to two wooden rings to shape the frame such as diamonds, triangles, garlics and etc. Then connecting it by nilon strings.
Secondly step is covering silks fit with the frame. After that they cut off the excess of silk and stick the edge of silk into the fram. Nowadays, many kinds of Hoi An lanterns are made in small form and easy to fold.
The final step requires skillful hands to draw or decorate the product. The artisans can decorate them by symbols of local or coutry
