* PRESENT WISH:
S + wish + ( that ) +S + Verb ( S.past)
Eg: I wish ( that ) you were enough to come with me.

* PAST WISH:
S + wish + S + had + pp /could have +pp
Eg: I wish I had washed the clothes yesterday.

*FUTHER WISH:
S + wish + S + could + V / were+ V _ing
Eg : I wish that you would stop staying that
She wishes that she were coming with me

Động từ WISH, một dạng câu điều kiện

Khi đặt câu WISH với ý nghĩa ao ước một điều gì đó, ta cần nhớ 2 loại như sau:

WISH loại 1: Ước về điều gì đó trái ngược với sự thật trong hiện tại.

* Công thức: Mệnh đề WISH chia ở thì hiện tại đơn + Mệnh đề chính chia ở thì quá khứ đơn

* Lưu ý:
- Với động từ TO BE, trong văn nói có thể dùng WAS cho ngôi thứ ba số ít và cho I, nhưng trong văn viết, phải dùng WERE cho tất cả chủ ngữ, không phân biệt ngôi, không phân biệt số ít hay số nhiều.
* Thí dụ:
I WISH I HAD A NICE HOUSE. = Tôi ước gì tôi có một căn nhà đẹp,
SHE WISHES SHE WERE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LADY IN VIETNAM. = Cô ấy ước gì cô ấy là người phụ nữ đẹp nhất Việt Nam.
I WISH I WERE THE PRIME MINISTER. = Tôi ước gì tôi là thủ tướng.

WISH loại 2: Ước về điều gì đó trái ngược với sự thật trong quá khứ

* Công thức: Mệnh đề WISH chia ở thì hiện tại đơn + Mệnh đề chính chia ở thì quá khứ hòan thành

* Thí dụ:
I WISH I HAD PASSED THAT EXAM. = Tôi ước gì tôi đã đậu trong kỳ thi đó.
SHE WISHES SHE HAD SOLD ALL HER STOCKS BEFORE THE MARKET WENT DOWN.= Cô ta ước gì mình đã bán tất cả các cổ phiếu trước khi thị trường xuống giá.

**Future wish(Ao ước ở tương lai)
S + WISH + S + WOULD/COULD.. + V_(bare_inf)
(IF ONLY)

Ex:
1. I wish I would be an astronaut in the future
2. If only I would take the trip with you next Sunday
