• Make an effort to do sth : nỗ lực làm gì. Effort là danh từ đếm được, nếu trước đó không có mạo từ/ tính từ sở hữu thì ở dạng số nhiều.

• Cấu trúc so sánh kép : The + so sánh hơn + S + V, the + so sánh hơn + S + V.

6. She thought it was too difficult for her to finish the job by lunchtime.
She found it too difficult to finish the job by lunchtime.

• Find sth adj : cảm thấy cái gì như thế nào (ở trong câu này đồng thời sử dụng cấu trúc chủ ngữ giả - it )

7. They thought that the little girl had found out the keys accidentally.
The keys were thought to have been found out accidentally by the little girl.

• Câu bị động đặc biệt.

8. Someone has suggested abolishing income tax.
It has been suggested that income tax (should) be abolished.

• It + be + suggested/ important/ vital/ ... + that + S + (should) Vbare

9. It was wrong of you to allow a 4-year-old child to walk home alone.
You should not have allowed a 4-year-old child to walk home alone.

• should (not) have PP : (không) nên làm gì ở quá khứ

10. We were late for the meeting because it rained heavily.
But for the heavy rain, we wouldn't have been late for the meeting.

• But for sth = If it hadn't been for sth (câu điều kiện loại 3) / If it weren't for sth (câu điều kiện loại 2)
• Câu điều kiện loại 3.
