Ireland is a island country. Ireland has a hard history. In many period of history, Ireland was a part of Britain and they didn’t have their own independent despite of their diffirent traditions from England. But now, most of Ireland island is independent and just the small rest in the North is owner by Britain. And one of the most popular customs of Ireland island is Saint Patrick’s Day. If you ask a Irish to tell two most important festival of Ireland, I really sure he or she will say Irish Independent day and Saint Patrick’s Day. You can see that Saint Patrick’s Day is really important in Irish customs. But why is Saint Patrick’s Day important ? To answer this question, you should better know that Ireland is a Christian country. So in Ireland, Christians is really important. So Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated to commemorate Saint Patrick who bring Christians from England to Ireland. The myth says Saint Patrick was a slave English in young. The sellers sold him to Ireland. In that period of time, Ireland is a poor island with war, slavery and depent. Ireland was a dark and poor island during the reign of England. Saint Patrick escaped and returned to Ireland. He knew he must change this island. And he brought Christians from England to Ireland to teach for Irish. He became propagandist. To explain about what is the Trinity, Saint Patrick took a shamrock. And more the important story of Saint Patrick is in Ireland there are many snakes and they hurt many farmers. Saint Patrick came and taught on the hills and since that snake didn’t exit in Ireland. With lessons of Saint Patrick, Irish knew what to do and they together fought with Britain and became an independent country. Today Saint Patrick’s Day is one of the most important day of Ireland. Saint Patrick’s Day is organised usually in 17th March when Irish believe that it is the death day of Saint Patrick. Before Saint Patrick’s Day, in Ireland and many other region where have the most Irish alive, people will prepare very carefully. The scene of city look very exciting, many shops open and buy lots of things about Saint Patrick’s Day. And one of the most important thing is clothes that have shamrock green colour and hat about shamrock. Shamrock is the thing what cannot be replaced in Saint Patrick’s Day. The women will cook traditional dishes for Saint Patrick’s Day and men will repaired and decorated houses. Before Saint Patrick’s Day one week, there is festival named Irish language week ( Seachtain na Gaeilge). It is the biggest Irish language festival. During 17 days of this festival, people will dance and sing Irish songs to celebrate it. In this week, people will use Irish language very often. You can think Irish language week is bell warning for Saint Patrick’s Day. During Saint Patrick’s Day, there are a lot of parade in Ireland street. People usually wear a hat attached the shamrock. They will cheer and talk while marcher walk and play musical instrument. Some people wear a formal costume of soldier and parade. Also they organise a music party in public place or usually know as cellidh. They use many tradition instrument of Irish. They use cello, piano and so many other instrument. Some musician can show their skill for public and people can enjoy it. Around them is a lot of people wear shamrock green colour clothes and cheer. They talk and applaud. Also Irish military organises parade for Saint Patrick’s Day. People can invite them to their house, celebrate and eat. But in Saint Patrick’s Day, people just eat vegetarian food because it is custom of Christians. So, apple wine, beer and whiskey especially is liked. It is custom of put the shamrock to the bottom of glasses. When they drink, they will drink it and sometimes they will take it out and throw over shoulder to wish more lucky come to they and their family. Since 2000, to respone Gobal Greening Initiative, every landmark of Ireland will be lit up with green light like their traditional colour. Lot of people also go to church and pray. They also read holy bible and sing god song. They thanks to Saint Patrick and Christians. The end of festival is the morning of the next day. When people wake up and do their work like many other days. Now, Saint Patrick’s day isn’t just celebrated in Ireland, there also in Spain, Australia, Northeast of America and many place where Irish alive a lot. They think Saint Patrick’s Day is most important day of year. Now in the world, Saint Patrick’s Day is very famous and all the world know it. Ok that all about my paragraph.
