In your opinion, when should sex education be introduced into secondary school curriculum? Get

It could have negative consequences
The argument on introducing sex education in Indian schools is
nothing new. The developed countries all over the world like UK and US have already made “sex education” a part of the school curriculum. But, India is still pondering over its inclusion. Why? The answer lies in the rich culture and the family values that Indians are imbibed with. The Indian values of not indulging in sex before marriage and extra-marital sex are slowly being clouded by the western ideas of engaging in premarital sex, Casual sex and practicing sex with multiple partners. Most young men and women of our society consider these western values to be more liberating while a majority of the older generation have no plans to give up on our rich culture. The debate over the cultural aspect of “sex education” would probably continue for another decade. However, There are some negative aspects lurking in the darkness underneath the lamp. It’s important that we examine them too.
When Educator Turns Predator
The Other Side of the Sex Education 1A lot of reports of sexual abuse come from people who are engaged in the education field like the principals of school, Teachers and management staffs of schools. Under such circumstances, It appears to be very unsafe to let our children learn about sex from them. Of course not all teachers are like this but when incidences like these are on a rise, It might even give such people free access to manipulate with the young minds and their bodies.
Learning about sex before they are mature enough to handle relationships, Shoulder responsibilities and think logically might even ignite their curiosity leading to even more immoral behaviour. Their minds might be ignited enough to watch even more pornographic clips on the Internet or read more erotic books or even have a first hand experience of it all.
Despite being of the same age no children are like. Some are more mature while some are still childish far away from the realities of the world. Children are like molten metal that is shaped according to what is taught to them today or what they experience. The talk of sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS and their pictures might even make them paranoid or scared of sex. Children might think that there is too much at stake so it’s better to abstain from it. So, Ultimately it might lead them to live an abnormal life.

Sex education should be introduced to students when they hit puberty, specifically 8th grade. Embarrassing as it seems to be, sex education shouldn't be ignored or there will be major consequences in students' life.

Idea 1: Content of sex education.
  • The content of sex education should be comprehensive.
  • Sex education should be about big changes in teenagers' bodies when they hit puberty, but what matters the most is the reproductive system of humans.
  • It should also talk about relationships between teenagers and everyone else, and how to avoid toxic relationships.
  • Personal skills should also be taught. Teenagers must learn how to negotiate, communicate and make decisions wisely. They should also learn to confidently speak up their problems.
  • Two important factors of Sex Education are sexual behaviors and sexual health. Students should learn how to avoid sexually-transmitted diseases and be sexually safe.
  • Society and culture should also be mentioned, like the roles of women and men in society, and the content should be adjusted to be suitable for the culture and society where it's taught.
Idea 2: How sex education helps students now and in the near future.
  • Students have enough knowledge from sex education, so they will be able to spot out bad sex-related things, like STDs, sexual abuse, toxic relationships, etc and know the solutions to them.
  • Students won't be shy trying to speak up their problems.
  • Any questions about the body changes from students are answered thoroughly, so they can grow up not worrying about what to do with their bodies.
  • Well-educated students can help less-educated students about sex education, thus spreading knowledge of how to protect ourselves.,especially women.
  • People who are educated about sex can be safe from the harmful effects of sex.
  • Students who are educated about sex won't discriminate against people who are sexually abused.
Idea 3: How should sex education be taught?
  • It should be taught carefully, and understandably.
  • Never make sex education an excuse for sexual harassment.
  • Try to advise students that sex isn't an embarrassing thing, but rather something vital.
  • Answer students' questions about their bodies during puberty thoroughly and exactly.
  • Make the process of teaching more interesting for students.
Conclusion: Sex education is needed for the sake of the younger generation's future.
