inflate = blew up: bơm căng

--> They couldn't reach a decision on where to go on holiday.
reach a decision on: đạt đến quyết định

--> Defense alliances are as old as the hills.
as old as the hills = extremely old: rất cũ
They arrived at their destination alive and kicking (sound)
--> They arrived at their destination safe and sound.
safe and sound = alive and kicking: bình an vô sự

in case + MĐ = Because it may/might happen: phòng khi
in case of + V_ing/N = If there is: trong trường hợp

--> John blew up the tires of his bicycle
blow up trong câu này nghĩa là: bơm căng lên (có thể đưa "the tires" đứng giữa blew và up cũng được)
They couldn't decide where to go on holiday (reach)
--> They couldn't reach a decision on where to go on holiday.
reach/ come to a decision: đi đến quyết định (sau nhiều khó khăn)
Tóm lại: khi đề bài cho viết lại với từ reach, hãy chuyển động từ (chọn ra) trong câu thành dạng danh từ, rồi thêm a/ an/ the tùy trường hợp.

as old as the hills: very old; ancient
They arrived at their destination alive and kicking (sound)
--> They arrived at their destination safe and sound.
alive and kicking: very active, healthy or popular
