a) $C=(13-4\sqrt 3)(7+4\sqrt 3)-8\sqrt{20+2\sqrt{43+24\sqrt 3}}$
$=91+52\sqrt 3-28\sqrt 3-48-8\sqrt{20+2\sqrt{(3\sqrt 3+4)^2}}$
$=43+24\sqrt 3-8\sqrt{28+6\sqrt 3}$
$=43+24\sqrt 3-8\sqrt{(3\sqrt 3+1)^2}$
$=43+24\sqrt 3-24\sqrt 3-8$
$=35$
b) $D=\dfrac{x\sqrt x-2x+28}{x-3\sqrt x-4}-\dfrac{\sqrt x-4}{\sqrt x+1}-\dfrac{\sqrt x+8}{\sqrt x-4}$
$=\dfrac{x\sqrt x-2x+28-(\sqrt x-4)^2-(\sqrt x+8)(\sqrt x+1)}{(\sqrt x-4)(\sqrt x+1)}$
$=\dfrac{x\sqrt x-2x+28-x+8\sqrt x-16-x-9\sqrt x-8}{(\sqrt x+1)(\sqrt x-4)}$
$=\dfrac{x\sqrt x-4x-\sqrt x+4}{(\sqrt x+1)(\sqrt x-4)}$
$=\dfrac{x(\sqrt x-4)-(\sqrt x-4)}{(\sqrt x+1)(\sqrt x-4)}$
$=\dfrac{(\sqrt x-4)(\sqrt x+1)(\sqrt x-1)}{(\sqrt x+1)(\sqrt x-4)}$
$=\sqrt x-1$
