A LETTER FROM LONDON
Jane lives in Manchester, a big city in
northwest England.last week she went to London with her father on a
sight-seeing tour. This is the letter Jane wrote to her sister Mary.

The park hotel

Park Lane

London w1

August 15,19__

Dear Mary ,

we've been here a few days but it seems to be only yesterday! We've
seen and done so many things that I hardly know where to begin to tell
you about them. My legs are still tired from all the walking I 've done
today.

Last Sunday afternoon, Dad and I started our walking tour just in front
of our hotel ,a very big hotel with two hundred rooms . We walked down
Park Lane to see Hyde Park . you know, it is a very big park in London
.Behind the railings of the park you can see a place where orators
deliver speeches on every possible subject on Sunday afternoons . As we
passed by , we saw crowds of people gather to listen to some of these
orators, and to ask them guestions as well .The sight wasvery
interesting! I wist you cuuld see and hear all sorts of people speaking
there.It would be great fun!

turning left at Hyde Park Corner , a big crossroad , we walked along
Piccadilly to Piccadilly Circus, where the statue of Eros stands high
above the centre of the busiest crossroad in London .then we turned
left again into Regent Street , one of the best shopping streets in the
city .I wish we would go shopping here together .Reaching Oxford Circus
we turned left once more and went along Oxford Street. It is another
shpping center with plenty of big stores, as exciting as Regent Street.

Then we came back to Park Lane after passing Marble Arch , which is a
hundred years old and was fristused as a gate into Hyde Park.

Dad says we're going to be here for a few days more .It would be nice
to hear how things are getting along at home without me, if you have
time to write.

Love,

Jane

P.S. Ienclose some postcards of the places I have visited.
