There are many different words used to describe a particular quanlity of something.
A. Containers (e.g a bag) and contents (e.g of shopping)
a bag of shopping
a bowl of sugar ( 1 tô đường)
a bottle of wine (1 chai rượu)
a glass of milk
a can of cola ( 1 lon coca)
a box of chocolates ( 1 hộp socola)
a carton of orange juices (1 hộp nước cam - loại hộp làm bằng giấy các tông)
a jar of mayonnaise ( 1 lọ/1 bình mayonnaise)
a jug of milk ( 1 bình sữa - loại bình có vòi và tay cầm)
a packet of cigarettes (1 gói thuốc)
a tin of fruit ( 1 hộp ( đồ hộp) trái cây)
a tube of toothpaste ( 1 túyp/ống kem đánh răng)
a vase of flowers
a cup of coffee
B. With uncountable nouns
Certain words make uncountable nouns countable in order to describe a specific quanlity. e.g Has anyone got a sheet of paper I can have ? Other example are"
a piece of toast
a piece of cake
a piece of wood
a slice of ham
a slice of bread
a drop of milk (=a little)
We use piece with the nouns above and some abstract nouns, e.g a piece of advice ; but the most common phrase in spoken EL is a bit: we use it with a wide range of nouns.

a bit of time

C. A pair of...
Some nouns have two parts, e.g trousers ( two legs) and shoes ( left and right). You can use pair of to specify the number, e.g a pair of skis, two pair of shoes. three pair of shorts.

a herd of cows ( 1 đàn bò)
a group of people
a bunch of plowers ( 1 chùm/ bó/cụm hoa)
a gang of youths/kid/teenagers ( 1 nhóm/lũ/tốp/đoàn thanh niên)
a bunch of grapes ( 1 chùm nho)
