There are lots of natural disasters such as tornado, tsunami, earthquake, forest fire,...But the natural disaster I want to talk to you is flood. A flood is an overflow of a large amount of water beyond its normal confines, especially over what is normally dry land. It can also occur in rivers, when the strength of the river is so high it flows right out of the river channel. This is far more likely to happen when there is a great deal of heavy rain, so during very wet periods, flood warnings are often put in place. In short, natural disaster happen all over the world and they can cause the loss of life and damage to property.

Talk abot natural disaster
There are many types of natural disasters but typhoon and flood are two of natural disaster which are popular in my country. Firstly, typhoon is a tropical storm with strong wind and heavy rain. When it strikes, it affects people's lives. May houses, farms, bridges are destroyed; especially, many people are killed.Secondly, flood can be happened by long heavy rain. Many people left their homes because rivers rose. Some roads are under two meters of water.Although the weather bureau issued flood warnings, water rose so quickly that some people weren't taken to safe areas. However, the local government already sent rescue equipment as well as food and water to the affected areas. In sum, we should protect the environment to reduce natural disasters

Talk abot natural disaster
You can use these talking points to discuss earthquakes, hurricanes, flash floods, and other emergencies with your children.
1. NATURAL DISASTERS

  • Our earth is amazing and full of wonderful things in nature…
  • Even rain and wind is part of that beauty…
  • However, once in a while weather can be very strong and create dangerous situations, like earthquakes, tornadoes, flash floods, or even forest fires…
  • “Natural disasters” can be scary when we don’t expect them, but there are steps to take to be safe…
EARTHQUAKES

  • The earth’s surface isn’t one solid piece. It’s more like a gigantic jigsaw puzzle of rock pieces called “plates…”
  • Earthquakes happen when two plates bump into each other…
  • These happen every day, but we don’t feel most quakes because they are too small or too deep underground.
  • Once in a while, a quake is powerful enough for people to feel it… It’s like the earth is shaking…
  • If there is a big, powerful earthquake, it can shake tables, shelves, windows, and even entire buildings…
  • Quakes are scary when you don’t expect them… But earthquakes don’t last long and they always end…
  • Big earthquakes are dangerous because heavy objects can fall, things can break, and people can get hurt…
  • It’s good to practice how to stay safe in an earthquake…
  • If it’s at night stay in your bed and cover your head with a pillow… If you’re at school, drop under a desk/table, cover your head with your hands, and hold on…
2. WHAT CAN HAPPEN DURING A NATURAL DISASTER?

  • During some natural disasters, people can lose their power and/or gas. That means no lights, television, heat…
  • Regular storms sometimes feel fun when you are safe inside, using flashlights. But natural disasters are stronger and last longer than that…
  • Sometimes people have to leave their homes during natural disasters, like forest fires or flash floods, to stay safe…
  • During natural disasters, people’s homes, cars, and belongings can be ruined…
  • That is scary and sad, especially since we usually don’t know when a natural disaster will happen….
  • owners…
3. WHAT WE CAN DO

  • We can learn how to stay safe if there is ever a natural disaster where we live…
  • Families can practice their “emergency procedures” at home…
  • We can have an “emergency kit” full of supplies we would need if there was a disaster…
  • Examples of emergency supplies are flashlights, raincoats, canned food, can-openers, bandaids…
  • We can help people who don’t have enough money to create their own emergency kit…
  • We can give emergency supplies to underprivileged families so we can all come together as a community to be prepared and stay safe…
Study well!
