coin-operated video games, beeping,buzzing and blinking in donut shops,candy stores,game rooms,pizza restaurant and laundromats introduce many people to computer concepts.these games have helped a whole generation of young people feel at home with computers.most students today do not consider learning computer skill a "big deal"

Máy tính ngày nay còn có thể dùng cho việc liên lạc trên không, tìm khoáng sản trong lòng đất, là robot điều khiển công việc tự động, theo dõi các ngôi sao, phân tích các chất hóa học và làm phim.
Chúng ta đang sống trong kỉ nguyên máy tính. Trong thực tế, một số người rất thích sử dụng nó, còn một số thì ko. Nhưng hai bước nhảy vọt trong 5 năm qua đã làm thay đổi phần lớn nhận thức về lợi ích của máy tính. Một là sự phát minh ra máy tính cá nhân, chi phí thấp đã góp phần đưa máy tính vào hàng ngàn lớp học, hàng ngàn ngôi nhà và các doanh nghiệp nhỏ. Hai là sự phát triển rộng rãi của trò chơi điện tử.
Những đồng xu để chơi điện tử, những ánh đèn nhấp nháy và những âm thanh vui tai từ các nhà hàng báng rán, bán kẹo hay các cửa hiệu trò chơi đã trở thành quá khứ. Khái niệm máy tính đã làm cả một thế hệ trẻ thích ở nhà cùng với máy tính. Hầu hết các học sinh ngày nay ko biết kĩ năng máy tính quả là "một vấn đề lớn".
