Have you ever done anything like this ?
Austrian Felix Baumgartner is the world's best - known BASE * jumper and an extreme sports legend. He holds the world records for high and low parachute jumps from buildings , bridges, and other structures. In 1999, he jumped off the Petronas Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The towers are 452 meters ( 1,483 feet ) high. In the same year, e also jumped from the Corcovado statue in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil. The statue is only 30 meters ( 98 feet ) high ! That's low!
There's more ! In 2003, Baumgartner crossed the English Channel between England and France in freefall from an altitude of 10,000 meters ( 33,000 feet ) . For most of the journey, he flew at 220 kilometers ( 137 miles ) an hour - with a carbon fin, an oxygen tank and a parachute on his back! He made the 35-kilometer ( 22-mile) journey from Dover, England to Calais, France in just 14 minutes !
'' How did i prepare for the flight ? '' said Felix. '' I tied myself to the top of a speeding Porsche!

* BASE = Buildings Antenna Span ( e.g, bridges ) Earth
