Japan is the land where have many tales, festival and also customs. Many Japanese festival are very famous such as Shichi – Go – San, festival for congratulations development of children or Hanamatsuri, festival for people who like flower – watching, etc. But one of the most famous festival I have ever visited is Tanabata. Tanabata is famous around the world and all Japan. Many weathly city celebrate this festival very careful like Tokyo, Sapporo or Osaka. Tanabata in Japanese means Evening of the seventh or also we can call it is Festival Of Star. Tanabata traditionally celebrate in 7th July in Lunar calendar. You know because Japanese in past use Lunar calendar for their time esimation and choose date for celebration festival. 7th July in Gregorian calendar usually in August. In 2021, date of Tanabata festival is 14th August. Tanabata festival is based on Qixi festival of China. It was adopted in reign of Empress Koken in 755, very early right ? Its story tells that in somewhere in Amanogawa – Milky Way, there are Orihime – daughter of Tentei, king of sky. Tentei is love cloth so he need Orihime to wave. Orihime wave very carefully and hard working. She works all day and along many decade. And Orihime get bored and she doesn't want to wave anymore. She talk to her father that she has waved so long and nobody falls in love with her. Tentei agree with request of his daughter and arranged Orihime with Hikoboshi who lived in the rest part of Amanogawa. They falls in love. Orihime doesn't want wave for Tentei because she has her love. In anger, Tentei separated Orihime and Hikoboshi by spliting Amanogawa to 2 part. In each year they just can meet each other onces in one night. Tentei promise that will allow Orihime meet his love if she is hard – working. In the first meeting, they can’t meet each other because there isn't a bridge. Orihime cries so much and make rain to the earth. The magpies come and promise will help her by making a bridge. Each year, in 7th July, if it is rain, they talk that magpies don't come and Orihime cries to make rain. So the Japanese organize this festival to congratulate the meeting of Orihime and Hikoboshi. This story passed from this generation to another generation. So in mind of Japanese they think it is national and important festival. Each city and each region there is different kind of Tanabata festival. But the most famous one is in Sendai. Tanabata has been famous in Sendai since 16th century before Edo period. In Sendai, people write their wishes in a paper and hang them on a bamboo. They write it like poem so to make one they need enough time for making a poem. But it is just tradition, if you are not very good at poetry or literature, you don't have to write a long wish or an excellent poem everything you need is a simple devotional wish noone will ridicule you. You can write a wish for career, health, money and fortunation. Also you can wish for your friend, family. The color of paper to hang must be carefull based on Wuxing ( Five Phase ) , a traditional theory about fortunation. Wuxing has 5 element : Fire, Water, Wood, Earth, Metal. So the color of paper must be Red, Blue, Black, Yellow and White for being received by gods. In every streets of Sendai, you can see many shops sell decorations for Tanabata. Female and male will wear yukana – a kind of kimono to wear in the summer. They wear it in the street, in the shop and also in their house. They don't have to wear yukana all the time but in traditional, most of people wear it all days before Tanabata ends. In street or public place or outside their house, people will put Fukinagashi – a colorful paper columm. On Fukinagashi, they will put thread to memorize story about love story of Orihime and Hikoboshi. Thread on Fukinagashi is considered as the thread of Orihime to wave in myth. In addition, in Tanabata, people make Orihazu, paper cranes represent for longevity and health. In each house, people will write Japanese traditional calligraphy because the bielief that calligraphy will bring fortunation to them. Most of Japanese can't write calligraphy or their calligraphy is bad so they will meet calligraphy master to help them make one to hang in their house. The rest can write so they needn't to meet calligraphy master. But it is really rare because you know nobody can write calligraphy professional without training. Two most famous food in this day is Red beans sweet gruel and Somen noodles. They eat Somen noodles because they believe that Somen noodles like thread that Orihime need to wave to meet Hikoboshi. Traditional Somen noodles is Nagashi – Somen. To eat Nagashi – Somen, they will place Somen noodles in a long flume of bamboo. The long flume carry Somen noodles and people will use chopstick to pick it up and eat. It usually eaten in summer. How about Red beans sweet gruel ? Japanese believe that if you are eat Red beans sweet gruel in Tanabata festival, you will meet your love. So many alone people eat it to have fortunation meet their love. And all of this is prepared for night of Tanabata. In night, people will have party in their house. They will lauch a fireworks to light night. They will go outside and cheers. Somebody who has boyfriend of girlfriend will go outside together to watch fireworks. In house, everyone has a large party with a lot of traditional food of Japan. To end this festival, people will watch fireworks together and go home. Someone will naps. Someone will chat and talk with friend and family. The night come back and everybody naps to have the next day. Ok that all about Tanabata festival. Do you think it is great festival ? And what is your favourite festival. Please give me. Thanks all !

Japan is a land rich in legends, festivals, and rituals. Many Japanese holidays are well-known, such as Shichi – Go – San, a festival honoring children's development, or Hanamatsuri, a festival honoring flower-lovers, among others. Tanabata, on the other hand, is one of the most well-known festivals I've ever attended. Tanabata is well-known throughout the world, as well as in Japan. Many wealthy cities, including as Tokyo, Sapporo, and Osaka, observe this holiday with great attention. Tanabata is a Japanese word that means "evening of the seventh" or "festival of stars." Tanabata is historically observed on the 7th of July, according to the lunar calendar. You may be aware that in the past, the Japanese used the Lunar calendar to calculate their time and select dates for festivals. The 7th of July is a common date in the Gregorian calendar. Tanabata will be held on August 14th, 2021. Tanabata is modeled in China's Qixi festival. It was accepted during Empress Koken's reign in 755, which is rather early, right? Its legend claims that Orihime, daughter of Tentei, ruler of the sky, lives somewhere in Amanogawa - Milky Way. Because Tentei is a love cloth, he need Orihime to wave. Orihime waves with great care and dedication. She is at work all day and along many decades. Orihime, on the other hand, becomes bored and ceases to wave. She tells her father that she has been waving for a long time and no one has fallen in love with her. Tentei complied with his daughter's wish and paired Orihime with Hikoboshi, who resided in the rest of Amanogawa. They fall in love with each other. Orihime refuses to wave for Tentei since she is in love with her. Tentei was enraged and cut Amanogawa into two parts, separating Orihime and Hikoboshi. They only get to see each other once a year, for one night. Tentei promises that if Orihime works hard, she would be able to meet his love. They are unable to meet for the first time since there is no bridge. Orihime weeps uncontrollably and brings rain to the world. The magpies arrive and pledge to assist her by constructing a bridge. If it rains on July 7th, they talk about how the magpies don't come, and Orihime pleads for rain. As a result, the Japanese hold this event to commemorate Orihime and Hikoboshi's meeting. This narrative was passed down from one generation to the next. As a result, the Japanese consider it a national and vital celebration. Tanabata festivals varied from city to city and region to region. However, the most well-known is in Sendai. Tanabata has a long history in Sendai, dating back to the 16th century before the Edo period. People in Sendai write their wishes on a piece of paper and hang it on a bamboo. They compose it as a poem, therefore they'll need a lot of time to complete it. But it's simply custom; if you're not brilliant at poetry or literature, you don't need to write a long wish or an excellent poem; all you need is a simple devotional request, and no one will make fun of you. You can make a career, health, money, or fortune wish. You can also make a wish for a friend or family member. According to Wuxing ( Five Phase ), a traditional fortuitous theory, the color of the paper to hang must be carefully chosen. Wuxing is composed of five elements: fire, water, wood, earth, and metal. As a result, the colors of the paper must be Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, and White in order to be accepted by the gods. Many businesses selling Tanabata decorations may be found on the streets of Sendai. Yukana, a type of summer kimono, will be worn by both men and women. They wear it on the street, at stores, and even at home. They are not required to wear yukana at all times, but most individuals do so in the days leading up to Tanabata. People will install Fukinagashi - a colorful paper columm – on the street, in a public spot, or outside their home. They will create a thread on Fukinagashi to memorize the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi's love affair. In myth, the thread on Fukinagashi is the Orihime thread that waves. In addition, people in Tanabata make Orihazu, which are paper cranes that symbolise longevity and good health. People will write Japanese traditional calligraphy in each house because they believe it will bring them good fortune. The majority of Japanese people are unable to write calligraphy or have poor handwriting, therefore they will meet a calligraphy master who will assist them in creating one to put in their home. The remainder of the group can write, thus they don't need to meet with a calligraphy instructor. However, it is extremely rare because no one can write professional calligraphy without training. Red beans sweet gruel and Somen noodles are two of the most popular foods today. They eat Somen noodles because they believe Orihime must wave Somen noodles like thread to meet Hikoboshi. Nagashi – Somen is a traditional Somen noodle. They will serve Nagashi – Somen by placing somen noodles on a bamboo flume. People will pick up and eat Somen noodles from the long flume using chopsticks. Summer is the best time to eat it. How about a nice red bean gruel? If you consume red beans sweet gruel during the Tanabata celebration, the Japanese believe you will meet your love. So many lonely folks consume it in the hopes of meeting their true love. And all of this is in preparation for Tanabata night. People will throw a party at their homes at night. They'll start a fireworks display to brighten the night. They'll go outside and applaud. Someone with a lover or girlfriend will go outside to watch fireworks with them. Everyone in the home throws a big celebration with a lot of Japanese food. People will watch fireworks together and then return home at the end of the festival. Someone will take a nap. Someone will have a conversation with a friend or family member. The night returns, and everyone prepares for the next day by napping. That concludes the Tanabata event. Do you think it's a fantastic festival? And which festival is your favorite? Please provide it to me. Thank you all very much!
