mọi người có thể giúp em câu này không?
1. I am not surprised to hear that Harry had failed his driving test
==> It came
2. He has never been so happy before
==> He was unhappy.

Câu 2 mình ko rõ lắm, đọc lên thấy đổi nghĩa so với đề.

hồi học thi thì có gặp 1 câu tương tự, nhưng đầu câu khác:
=>Never before... (has he been so happy)
=>He is... (happiest right now).

Tớ thấy câu này viết lại thế này đổi nghĩa mất rồi:
a) You must make allowances for his inexperience (account) =bạn phải/hãy xí xoá sự thiếu kinh nghiệm của anh ấy.
(make allowance trong trường hợp này tớ dịch đại là xí xoá nhé (or ko kể đến - tra từ điển nếu bạn cảm thấy ko rõ)
On no account must you make allowances for his inexperience = trong bất cứ trường hợp nào bạn cũng ko đc xí xoá sự thiếu kinh nghiệm của anh ấy

Viết lại phải là: You must take into account his inexperience.

b) This contract is not binding until we both sign it (bound)
We are not bound by the contract until it is signed (by both parties/by both of us)

c) You shouldn't take his help for granted (assume)
you should not assume his help for granted
câu này tớ ko rõ lắm, nhưng theo ý tớ thì tớ cảm thấy viết thế này xuôi hơn:
you should not assume his help is for granted (assume + clause) OR:
You should not assume he will help you for granted.

a) She/never/fail/word/so far
She has never failed her word so far
to fail sb's word = to be NOT true to sb's word = KHÔNG giữ lời hứa

b) I/call/police/resort
I called a police in the last resort
 I called the police in the (or as a) last resort
the police hoặc A policeman, ko dùng a police được.

c) standard practice/pay a deposit/order
standard practice is paid a deposit to order
It is standard practice to pay a deposit when ordering (or to order)

tiện thể cho mình hỏi "present participle" là những từ có dạng gì??? có phải là dạng V-ing không?
