Đầu tiên ta cần phải thay đổi đại từ của câu. Ở đây ta cần phải chuyển câu trực tiếp thành gián tiếp nên đại từ I phải thay đổi thành she vì chủ ngữ trong câu trực tiếp Sally là nữ. Tiếp theo ta thay đổi thì của câu. Trong câu trực tiếp, mệnh đề được chia thì tương lai gần nên ta cần phải thay đổi thành thì quá khứ tiếp diễn: was/were going to. Giờ thì viết lại câu thôi!
Sally said (that) she was going to the bookshop.
2. Ann siad to me: " My parents have just bought a new house"
Thay đổi đại từ my->her. Thay đổi thì hiện tại hoàn thành-> Quá khứ hoàn thành. Viết lại:
Ann said to me her parents had just bought a new house.
3. " The film that I saw was really interesting " said Lan
Thay đổi đại từ I->she. Thay đổi thì: Thì Quá khứ đơn -> Quá khứ hoàn thành.
4. " I don't know who she is. I've never seen her " said Bob
Thay đổi đại từ I-> he. Thay đổi thì: Hiện tại đơn(I don't know who she is) -> Quá khứ đơn và Hiện tại hoàn thành(I've never seen her) -> Quá khứ hoàn thành
