Diễn tả một sự việc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai theo một kế hoạch đã được lên lịch cố định.

- What are you doing next week? (Bạn sẽ làm gì vào tuần sau?)
Diễn tả sự không hài lòng, phàn nàn hay lặp đi lặp lại
Ex: - He is always coming late. (Anh ta toàn đến muộn.)
- Why are you always putting your dirty clothes on your bed? (Sao lúc nào con cũng để quần áo bẩn trên giường thế?)
*Lưu ý: Cách dùng này được dùng với trạng từ “always, continually”
4. Cách thêm "ING" sau động từ
- Thông thường ta chỉ cần cộng thêm “-ing” vào sau động từ. Nhưng có một số chú ý như sau:

  • Với động từ tận cùng là MỘT chữ “e”:

- Ta bỏ “e” rồi thêm “-ing”.
Ex: write – writing type – typing come – coming
- Tận cùng là HAI CHỮ “e” ta không bỏ “e” mà vẫn thêm “-ing” bình thường.

• 
  
  
  • Với động từ có MỘT âm tiết, tận cùng là MỘT PHỤ ÂM, trước là MỘT NGUYÊN ÂM

– Ta nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ing”.
Ví dụ: stop – stopping get – getting put – putting
* Lưu ý: Các trường hợp ngoại lệ:
begin – beginning prefer – preferring permit – permitting travel – travelling

  • Với động từ tận cùng là “ie”

– Ta đổi “ie" thành “y” rồi thêm “-ing”. Ví dụ: lie – lying die – dying
* Lưu ý: Một số từ không chia ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn: know, wish, expect, understand, wonder, notice, fall, smell, agree, keep, seem, love/like, be, fell, start/begin, want, need, look, see, consider, taste, hear, feel, finish, have to, prefer, stop, hope, sound, enjoy
5. Cách nhận biết
Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian:
- Now: bây giờ , Right now: Ngay bây giờ , At the moment: lúc này, At present: hiện tại, At + giờ cụ thể (at 12 o’lock)
Trong câu có các động từ như:
- Look! (Nhìn kìa!), Listen! (Hãy nghe này!), Keep silent! (Hãy im lặng)
Ex: - Now my sister is going shopping with my mother. (Bây giờ em gái tôi đang đi mua sắm với mẹ của tôi.)
- Look! The train is coming. (Nhìn kia! tàu đang đến.)
- Listen! Someone is crying. (Nghe này! Ai đó đang khóc.)

I. Định nghĩa
Tính từ là từ chỉ tính chất của người, vật, hoặc sự việc được biểu thị bằng một danh từ hoặc đại từ
II. Các loại tính từ
1. Tính từ mô tả và tính từ giới hạn
Tính từ mô tả (Descriptive adjectives): là tính từ được dùng để mô tả hình dáng, kích thước, phẩm chất, đặc tính, màu sắc,... của người hoặc sự việc.
Ex: tall, fat, heavy, rich, old, intelligent, blue, beautiful, good,...
My school is small and old
+ Tính từ mô tả chiếm phần lớn số lượng tính từ trong tiếng Anh
Tính từ giới hạn (Limiting adjectives): là tính từ được dùng để đặt giới hạn cho danh từ mà nó bổ nghĩa. Tính từ giới hạn gồm:
- Từ xác định hoặc tính từ chỉ sự sở hữu: được dùng trước danh từ để chỉ danh từ đó thuộc về người hoặc vật nào.
Ex: Have you seen my new coat?
Her father is a teacher.
- Từ xác định hoặc tính từ chỉ định: this, that, these, those, other, another, the other
Ex: I like these earrings
That table is nice.
- Từ xác định hoặc tính từ phân bổ: each, every, both, either, neither
+ Each/Every + danh từ đếm được số ít: chỉ nhóm người hoặc vật. Động từ theo sau ở số ít.
Ex: Each answer is worth 10 points
+ Both + danh từ đếm được số nhiều
Ex: Both books are interesting
+ Either/Neither + danh từ đếm được số ít
Ex: Neither answer is correct
- Từ xác định hoặc tính từ chỉ số lượng: all, most, some, several, many, few, much, little, a lot of/lots of,...
+ All, most + danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều hoặc danh từ không đếm được. Động từ theo sau ở hình thức số nhiều hay số ít tùy thuộc vào danh từ.

+ Some, any + danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều hoặc danh từ không đếm được.

A lot of/lots of thường dùng trong câu khẳng định.

+ A few và a little: chỉ số lượng nhỏ

A little + danh từ không đếm được
2. Tính từ thuộc ngữ và tính từ vị ngữ
Tính từ thuộc ngữ: là tính từ đứng trước danh từ mà nó mô tả
Ex: He's a nice man
Tính từ vị ngữ: là tính từ theo sau các hệ từ be, become, feel, look, get, seem,...
Ex: She were asleep.
3. Tính từ đơn và tính từ ghép
Tính từ đơn (simple adjectives): là tính từ chỉ có một từ
Ex: good, sad, beautiful
Tính từ ghép (compound adjectives): là tính từ được thành lập bằng cách kết hợp hai hoặc nhiều từ lại với nhau và được dùng như một tính từ duy nhất. Tính từ ghép có thể được viết:
- thành một từ duy nhất
Ex: homesick
- thành hai từ và có dấu gạch nối (-) ở giữa
Ex: duty-free (miễn thuế)
