Series này nhằm mục đích giúp các bạn phức tạp hóa tiếng Anh của mình, làm quen với việc linh hoạt sử dụng các từ, qua đó nâng cao trình độ tiếng Anh của các bạn.

- Dùng từ, cụm từ đao to búa lớn chưa chắc đã khiến mọi người ấn tượng, mà dùng ngôn ngữ tự nhiên, hiệu quả và linh hoạt mới là bí quyết nói tiếng Anh tốt.
- Master ngữ pháp là điều kiện quan trọng nếu bạn muốn học tiếng Anh thật tốt (có thể nó không phải ưu tiên số 1, nhưng vẫn quan trọng)
- Master kĩ thuật paraphrase là một điều quan trọng khác khi học tiếng Anh.

=> of paramount importance, of great poverty, of excellent quality, etc.
Đây là một quy tắc paraphrase rất hay các bạn có thể áp dụng, quan trọng nhất là tính từ ở giữa thì các bạn có thể dùng Online OXFORD Collocation Dictionary (tra mạng nhé) để đa dạng hóa vốn từ và dùng từ giống người bản xử hơn nhé!

- Câu giờ: buy time (to do something in order to delay an event, a decision, etc.)
Ex: He tried to buy time by saying he hadn't been well.
- Giết thời gian: while away (to do something in order to delay an event, a decision, etc.)
Ex: I whiled away my time (by) looking through some magazines.

7. Past/ present/ future.
- In the past:
+ Có thể thay bằng một cụm siêu tự nhiên là "date back to" với một thời gian cụ thể.
Ex: This house dates back to 1780.
+ back in the day = in the past.
Ex: My dad's always talking about how great everything was back in the day.
- At present/ Nowadays: nên thay bằng cụm "these days (informal)" hoặc "today".
Ex: These days kids grow up so quickly.
- In the future = in the long run (far future) / in the long/medium/short term (far/ near future)
Ex: This measure inevitably means higher taxes in the long run.

Các bạn rất hay dùng "thằng này trông giống thằng kia" trong tiếng Việt. Và hầu hết khi dịch ra tiếng Anh đều là "This guy looks the same as that guy", sau đây là một số cách diễn đạt khác:
- bear a resemblance to sb/sth (phrase)
bear a/an + ADJ. + resemblance to sb/sth (+)
Ex: She bears an uncanny resemblance to Dido.
bear little/ no resemblance to sb/ sth (-)
Ex: The movie bears little resemblance to the original novel.
- carbon copy (also carbon) (n) a person or thing that is very similar to somebody/something else
Ex: Please keep the original contract and give the carbon copy back to me.
She's a carbon copy of her mother.
The terrorists attack on the Capital Trade Centre was a carbon copy of the 11-9 attack on the building.

LEARNING BY HEART
Đây là một cụm các bạn dùng cực kì nhiều với nghĩa "học thuộc lòng", dù nó hay nhưng cái gì nhiều quá cũng không tốt. Do vậy chúng ta nên thay thế và sử dụng linh hoạt để diễn đạt tốt hơn.
- memorize (v)
- commit something to memory: to learn something well enough to remember it exactly
Ex: Without rehearsing or continuing to repeat the number until it is committed to memory, the information is quickly lost from short-term memory. (verywellmind - Short-Term Memory Duration and Capacity)
Lưu ý: một số bạn nhầm lẫn committed (past participle) và committed (adjective).

It depends to a large extent on what kind of advice I'm looking for. For example, I've usually come to my parents for important decisions in life. They can really help point me in the right direction because they really know me well. I came to my teachers so that they can counsel me on things related to my career, so they would know what should I do after graduating. And I come to my friends and enlist their help when I'm looking for advice on daily and personal stuff. So yeah I guess all of them give me good advice.

HAVE MANY PURPOSES?
- multipurpose (adj.) able to be used for several different purposes
Collocations: multipurpose room/ building/ tool/ machine/ shop/ plant, etc.
Ex: The concert hall is actually a multipurpose building that doubles as a theatre, exhibition hall and community centre.
This is a multipurpose shop serving as a bookstore.
- all-purpose (adj.) [only before noun] having many different uses; able to be used in many situations
Collocations: all-purpose cheese/ flour/ shoes/ paste (nước chấm)/ room, etc.
Ex: His all-purpose paste, “Thai MSG” as he called it, ground from coriander seed, white pepper, garlic and fish sauce, gave a mule-kick to any soup.
Many cake recipes call for (= need) all-purpose flour, but those that suggest cake flour do so for a reason.
- versatile (adj.)
+ (of a person) able to do many different things
Ex: He's a versatile actor who has played a wide variety of parts.
Meryl Streep is a wonderfully versatile actress.
+ (of food, a building, etc.) having many different uses
Ex: Eggs are easy to cook and are an extremely versatile food.

ADJECTIVES: ATTRACTIVE THINGS/ PEOPLE
- mesmerizing: mê hoặc "having such a strong effect on you that you cannot give your attention to anything else"
Ex: Under the sunset glow, it's a mesmerizing brilliance on the sea surface.
He had the most mesmerizing blue eyes.
Vietnam is a mesmerizing place. You will definitely fall in love if you visit once.
- appealing: lôi cuốn "attractive or interesting"
Ex: He had a nice smile and an appealing personality.
Spending the holidays in Britain wasn't a prospect that I found particularly appealing.
Your suggestion is appealing in theory, but it lacks practicality.
- marvellous/ marvelous (US English): extremely good; wonderful
Ex: "Sunset is so marvelous that even the sun itself watches it every day in the reflections of the infinite oceans!"
